Kamenets-Podolsk and Chernovtsy on the May

May, 2006

First of all would like to thank you for rather informative site which services we have used for our short-term travel.

From your easy hand for May holidays we have decided to visit Kamenets-Podolsk and Chernovtsy. Would like to share impressions.

The road is completely not tiresome. The train Moscow-Khmelnitskiy goes about 19 hours, that is night and more is a little. If not night pobudki on border - all would be just fine. But it it is possible to go through. Then rather short (one and a half hour) moving - and we in Kamentse. Having used your reference, we have lodged in hotel "Гала", took two-room number. It has appeared small, but very cosy. Quite decent repair, all absolutely new. Extremely we recommend. The hotel is focused on reception of groups of the Polish tourists, basically elderly which like ponostalgirovat about former power of Speech pospolitoj - the blessing of occasions in Kamentse enough.

The city of Kamenets, perhaps, could be very beautiful, could even become the Ukrainian Salzburg if someone in the twentieth years of last century was come to mind by idea to make its industrial centre and the giant of the industry. As has carried to Suzdal (there have not spent the railway) and as has not carried Kamentsu! That is beautiful places and kinds in Kamentse are, them is simple to a fig - one fortress of that costs! But all spoils a monstrous industrial landscape. Separate, even very beautiful monuments of architecture do not rescue the general atmosphere.

It is necessary to wish only Kamentsu the brilliant tourist future, after all its industrial last and depressive present a city not to the person. Probably, rich kievljane will buy here distant summer residences, the earth will rise in price, factories will deduce for city boundaries...

Then there was a visiting of vicinities Kamentsa - Podolsk Tovtr and the Crystal cave, that as a whole very much it was pleasant. Though I suspect, that in the Western Ukraine there are places and it is more interesting. It is good to attempt in Kamentse to us it was not possible. And it is a pity.

Bukovina makes much more pleasant impressions. Chernovtsy something reminds Petersburg (only houses in the best condition), something Moscow (only people and cars much less), and something Vienna (only all is much cheaper). Has most of all shaken university - and what line I have finished RGGU?! It was necessary directly here! It is direct Hogvarts any!

In general, it would not be desirable to leave. In the gastronomic plan – just fine. Especially it would be desirable to note very stylish Wiener Cafe in the street Olga Kobyljanskoj (or Maria Theresia Strasse?).

Still a tremendous building of the former Savings bank (nowadays the Art Museum) – typical Viennese setsession. A city with a complete, harmonious architectural ensemble and very good atmosphere. I wish to return.

By the way, our Moscow acquaintances at the best were perplexed, and even dissuaded us from a trip to the Western Ukraine. In mass consciousness such round is something an average between night walk on suburbs of Bagdad without the militarised protection and a track on the jungle Congos, teeming snakes, crocodiles and insurgents. Officially I declare – the slander, we have not noticed any nationalism. Though, can be to us has not carried (or has carried?).
