In Sevastopol the Victory Memorial is opened

In Sevastopol there pass celebrations on the occasion of 63rd anniversary from the date of clearing of a hero town of fascist aggressors.

Opening of the Memorial of the Victory on cape Crystal became the main event on the eve of a holiday. Cооружение this monument has begun still 35 years ago at Soviet Union, but it has not been finished.

The basic jobs at a monument have begun last year. For this time for means of the government of Moscow and the Moscow area, the state budget of Ukraine and on monetary payments from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus reconstruction and a construction of the first turn of the Memorial have been finished.

It includes a two-figured sculptural composition "the Sailor and the Soldier" in height 41 metre.

The second turn of the Memorial - the Great Patriotic War Museum, is planned to finish in 2008 to the 225 anniversary of Sevastopol.

The ambassador of the Russian Federation has taken part in monument opening ceremony in Ukraine Victor Tchernomyrdin ordering the Black Sea fleet admiral Alexander Tatarinov, the head of the Sevastopol city administration Sergey Kunitsyn ordering Naval Forces of Ukraine vice-admiral Igor Tenjuh, the metropolitan Simferopol and Crimean Lazar, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, seamen CHF and VMSU, inhabitants of a hero town, passes "Interfax".

At a monument guards of honour from the Black Sea fleet of Russia and Naval Forces of Ukraine have been constructed.

This day, in memory of defenders of Sevastopol, at bottom of the Memorial of the Victory under weapon salute of a guard of honour of the Russian and Ukrainian fleet the Eternal Fire delivered from Eternal Fire on the Sapun-grief, which capture by the Soviet armies has been lighted on May, 7th, 1944 has marked the beginning of clearing of Sevastopol from fascist aggressors.

Memorial opening ceremony has come to the end with the ship artillery salute made from spot-check of the Sevastopol bay by the Russian patrol ship "Fine".
